CAR TAX EXEMPTION



1. How many tax exempted cars (motorcar made or assembled in Malaysia) can be purchased by the MM2H participants?

Each participant is only allowed to purchase one (1) tax exempted car.


2. When can the MM2H participants purchase their tax exempted car?

They are allowed to purchase the car within one (1) year from the endorsement date of MM2H social visit pass.


3. What is the maximum purchase price of the tax exempted car?

There is no maximum price.

4. Can the MM2H participants sell their tax exempted car?

Participants are only allowed to sell their imported/locally purchased car after 2 years' stay on the programme.


5. Can the MM2H participant register the tax exempted car under his/her spouse’s name who is a Malaysian?

No. The car incentive is only applicable for foreigners who have obtained their MM2H visa.


6. Can the MM2H participant register the tax exempted car under his/her dependent’s name?

Yes. The car can be registered under dependent’s name provided the application to purchase the car is made by main applicant.


7. A MM2H participant has already purchased a tax exempted car during the first year after obtaining the MM2H visa. Can he/she purchase another tax exempted car after renewing the MM2H visa?

No. Each participant is only allowed to purchase one (1) car in his/her lifetime under the MM2H programme.


8. If the MM2H participant is from Korea, can he/she import the car from German?

No. MM2H participant are only allowed to import the cars from their country of origin.


9. An Australian has stayed in Hong Kong for the last ten years before obtaining the MM2H visa. Can he/she import the car from Hong Kong?

Yes. The participant is allowed to import the car from Hong Kong with supporting documents including temporary resident card, letter from company, motorcar registration document and any other related documents.


10. Can the MM2H participant import his/her car to Malaysia?

Yes, provided the MM2H participant can show prove, as evidenced in the motorcar registration document, that he/she has been the owner of the car for at least 6 months prior to obtaining the MM2H visa.
